Starwood launches internet booking bonus

Travelers can earn up to 10,000 Starpoints or miles during the “Click ... Book ... Bonus” promotion. Bonus points are earned for hotel stays when reservations are made online through http://www.sheraton.com; http://www.westin.com; http://www.fourpoints.com; http://www.luxurycollection.com; http://www.stregis.com; and http://www.whotels.com. Travelers must be members of Starwood Preferred Guest to participate, but new members are welcome and can participate in the promotion as soon as they sign up—which can also be done online at http://www.preferredguest.com.

As always, Starpoints can be used to redeem travel at any one of 700 participating Starwood Preferred Guest properties in 80 countries including some of the world’s finest hotels and resorts. Unlike other hotel programs, Starwood Preferred Guest does not have blackout dates or capacity controls, so members can redeem their points when they want and where they want. If travelers prefer, they can transfer Starpoints into one of Starwood Preferred Guest’s 27 airline partner programs at a rate of one Starpoint to one mile with most major airlines—meaning that travelers can earn up to 10,000 miles just by booking online during this promotional period.

And if travelers choose to use their points to redeem hotel stays, just what will 10,000 Starpoints get them? Just for booking online, travelers can earn free nights at some of the world’s most renowned hotels including one free night at the Westin St. John Resort; 13 resorts in Hawaii including the Princeville and the Orchid at Mauna Lani; or a night at the Westin Tokyo or Sheraton on The Park in Sydney, Australia. 10,000 Starpoints also entitles travelers to two nights at many hotels including the Sheraton Great Wall in Beijing, China; the Sheraton Firenze in Florence, Italy; and the Sheraton Cancun in Mexico.

Starwood Preferred Guest was named the 1999 Hotel Program of the year by consumers via InsideFlyer magazine’s Freddie Awards. Starwood Preferred Guest also received four Freddies for Best Customer Service; Best Web Site; Best Elite-Level Program and Best Award Redemption. Introduced in February 1999, Starwood Preferred Guest received five of Inside Flyer’s most prestigious awards just one year after its debut. In addition, the program was also ranked the number one hotel loyalty program in the world as reported by USA Today.
