As the year 2000 approaches, the Internet is becoming one of the hottest dating locations of choice, dramatically changing the way people meet. Thousands of people are wooing on the Web as an alternative to the more traditional means of finding that special someone. To celebrate Valentine’s Day 2000 and the debut of its newest ship, Princess Cruises—the Love Boat line that made romance and cruising synonymous—and Match.Com, a leading online matchmaking service, will play cupid by bringing couples together for the new Millennium. Interested singles can chat with their potential mates at www.match.com/oceanprincess and enter to win a trip to meet at the “World’s Largest Floating First Date” onboard Princess’ new 77,000-ton Ocean Princess, the cruise industry’s first “Millennium baby.” Entries must be received by November 30, 1999.
Fifty lucky couples will receive an all-expense paid trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to attend a Valentine’s Day gala aboard Ocean Princess. Participants will also get to rub shoulders with such romantic celebrities as legendary Dating Game host Jim Lange, everybody’s favorite Love Boat captain, Gavin MacLeod, relationship experts Dr. Toni Grant, Fran Greene and Mother Love, along with Trish McDermott, Match.Com’s vice president of romance. Winners will also receive roundtrip airfare and the opportunity to participate in a variety of onboard activities and social events.
“As the cruise line known for sea-going romance, hosting a Millennium matchmaking event is a natural for us,” said Rick James, Princess Cruises’ senior vice president of customer service and sales. “Much like dating, our Grand Class ships are all about choice. It’s fitting, then, that we bring these two signature Princess features together during Valentine’s Day, creating a “Grand Class Matchmaking” experience for 50 potential couples aboard our newest ship, Ocean Princess.”
