Taj Hotels Launch Wireless Broadband Solutions

In keeping with its commitment to provide its guests with the very best facilities and comforts, the Taj Group of Hotels has launched a revolutionary new broadband solution using the Wireless Fidelity (WiFi) - which allows guests to access high speed internet from their laptop in any part of the hotel, in its phase I plans. 
Be it at the coffee shop, the poolside or the room, this new system allows guests at the

the convenience of moving from one place to another in the hotel without loosing the connection to the Internet. 


The facility is currently available at The Taj Mahal Hotel - Mumbai, Taj President - Mumbai, Taj Mahal - New Delhi, Taj Palace Hotel - New Delhi, Taj Bengal - Kolkata, The Taj West End - Bangalore, Taj Residency - Bangalore, Taj Coromandel - Chennai, Taj Connemara - Chennai, Fishermans Cove, Chennai,  Taj Krishna - Hyderabad & Taj Residency - Hyderabad, and will be soon made available at all Taj City Hotels.


Usage of the system is very simple - the hotel will provide a network card for laptops that will allow users to instantly connect to the Internet. For users who have a Wi-Fi ready Laptop/ Notebook, the user can ask the Hotel front desk for an account to access the services.  The user can then choose from a 1-hour access, 2-hour access or a 24-hour access, with the option of upgrading the account on line, from one scheme to the next higher scheme at attractive rates at a maximum of Rs. 600 for 24 Hours access. 

Announcing the launch of this facility, Mr. Prakash Shukla, Senior Vice-President, Technology and Chief Information Officer, Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces said, “Guest satisfaction has always been an area of high priority for us.  In today’s world, access to the Internet and e-mails is very important for our guests.  About 60% of our Guests are Business travelers who cannot do without this access.  The introduction of this wireless broadband facility offers them the freedom and convenience of high speed Internet access from anywhere in the hotel.” 


The wireless system installed in the hotels is based on the internationally accepted 802.11 standards & supports up to 11 Mbps of data transfer. The Systems used are from the reputed brands like Avaya, Cisco Systems, Accton & Normadix.

In its phase II plans, Taj
is planning to introduce facilities such as Printing on Wireless, Folio Inquiry & Messages. With Printing on Wireless, guests would be able to send print commands from their laptop directly to the printer in the Business Centre, sitting anywhere in the hotel. The Folio Inquiry would enable guests to review their hotel bills online on their laptop, Similarly, the Messages facility would allow Hotel staff to sent out important messages, which they can view from their on their laptop.
