Abacus International Names Li Dong Qi as General Manager for China

ABACUS International, Asia-Pacific’s largest Global Distribution System (GDS)  announced the appointment of Mr. Li Dong Qi as General Manager for China.

Based in ABACUS’ Beijing office, Mr. Li will oversee all China operations and develop ongoing strategy and expansion plans for one of the Company’s most exciting markets.


Patrick Lai, ABACUS Vice President of North Asia said, “Dong Qi has been an integral part of ABACUS’ history in China. He first joined ABACUS in 1995 and was part of the China Business Team that set up our operations there.”


He added, “ABACUS is committed to working more closely with the travel industry to capitalise on China’s potential in terms of both outbound and inbound traffic, and we are adding resources to significantly expand our presence in China.  Dong Qi’s experience in China and the travel industry will contribute significantly toward achieving our goals in China.”


This is Mr. Li’s second stint with ABACUS. Since 1998 he’s been with IBM working most recently as a consultant for IBM China in Beijing, responsible for leading and managing IBM’s Business Consulting Services in China.

Jerry Hwa, the current General Manager of ABACUS, will be handing over his responsibility to Mr. Li over the next few months. Mr. Hwa will be focusing more on Sabre’s rapidly growing airline solution business in China. He will remain an advisor to ABACUS and will continue to work very closely with Mr. Li and his team.


Mr. Li holds a Masters of Science degree from the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications of China
