Nikko Hotels Select Pegasus for Hotel Reservations Technology and Services

Pegasus Solutions has finalized a comprehensive renewal agreement with Nikko Hotels International, a luxury hotel group operated by Tokyo-based JAL Hotels Company, Ltd., a subsidiary of Japan Airlines.
The new three-year agreement calls for the continued deployment of Pegasus’ RezView central reservations system (CRS) and other reservations and electronic distribution technology service offerings.
Nikko Hotels
recently concluded that the Pegasus
CRS and related services were the best on the market.  The multifaceted renewal agreement includes the continued use of Pegasus’ RezView CRS on an application service provider (ASP) basis; electronic channel distribution through the Internet and global distribution systems (GDS); private-label voice reservations services in the United States; and reservations reporting capabilities for Nikko Hotels’ 52 luxury hotel properties in Japan and around the world.

Since 1997, Nikko Hotels has housed its luxury properties’ inventory and rates in the robust Pegasus RezView CRS, which is now located in Pegasus’ new state-of-the art data center in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Under the agreement, Pegasus continues to connect Nikko Hotels to the Pegasus Electronic Distribution Switch for seamless connectivity to the GDSs, such as Sabre and Galileo, providing seamless availability for travel agent and Internet online bookings.  Additionally, Pegasus “powers” the online hotel reservations for Nikko Hotels’ branded Web site, www.nikkohotels.com

Nikko Hotels’ continued use of RezView helps to facilitate its joint marketing alliance with Le Méridien Hotels, also a Pegasus RezView CRS customer.  As a result, Nikko Hotels and Le Méridien Hotels retain the ability to access each other’s room inventory and rates through a password-protected gateway and book guests at their respective properties depending on destination and availability.  The alliance extends Nikko Hotels’ marketing network to more than 180 hotels in over 60 countries and territories.

“After an extensive evaluation spearheaded by industry consultant John Burns, we determined that Pegasus Solutions offers Nikko Hotels the most efficient, sophisticated and flexible technology option for managing our reservations and inventory.  Pegasus adheres to the same high-level standards we try to achieve everyday,” said Barbara Miyao, manager of global distribution for Nikko Hotels International. “Plus, with the synergy of our cross-reservations partner Le Méridien’s use of the Pegasus CRS, it makes strong business sense for us to continue our successful relationship with Pegasus.”

Components of the complete technology renewal agreement also call for Pegasus to continue handling private-label voice hotel reservations services for Nikko Hotels, including central reservations office (CRO) support.  Nikko Hotels maintains two of its own CROs - one in London and one in Tokyo - and outsources its North American CRO to Pegasus.

Gideon Dean, senior vice president, worldwide technology sales for Pegasus Solutions, said, “We are pleased that Nikko Hotels, after a full-scale review process, chose to maintain its relationship with Pegasus to manage the hotel company’s reservations technology needs.  By outsourcing all of its reservations needs to Pegasus, Nikko Hotels is able to continue focusing on further strengthening its position as a leading luxury hotel brand worldwide.  We look forward to continuing to offer Nikko Hotels the best solutions to meet the company’s ever-changing needs.”
