Travelocity Responds to Consumer Uncertainty

27th Mar 2003

As travelers seek assurances during these uncertain times, Travelocity
, in strategic alliance with American International Companies, members of American International Group, Inc. (AIG), today broadened its travel insurance coverage by adding flight protection to the siteå‘s existing vacation coverage program.
With a simple click of a mouse, Travelocity shoppers now will be able to purchase airline and vacation protection plans.

“We wanted to expand the travel insurance coverage we offer our customers when shopping at Travelocity, especially as travel plans become less predictable,” said Michelle Peluso, senior vice president product strategy and distribution for Travelocity. “We definitely think they will appreciate the value of the small investment.”

Flight Protection
Coverage and pricing under Travelocity’s programs for airline tickets will range from $12.95 to $29.95 per person, depending on the type of ticket purchased.

? Domestic tickets will be covered up to the total original flight cost for trip cancellation and trip interruption, and up to $100,000 in flight insurance.

? Coverage for international tickets can include trip cancellation, trip interruption and travel delay, as well as 24-hour worldwide emergency assistance, medical and baggage benefits, and up to $250,000 in flight insurance.

If a flight has been delayed, canceled or interrupted by the events of war, consumers should defer to the airlines individual cancellation policies all of which are listed on Travelocity’s Information Center.

“We have worked closely with the Travelocity team to give their members a set of benefits that best suits the needs of each type of traveling situation,” said Bridget Whalen, Assistant Vice President, Leisure Travel at American International Companies. “We have a proven track record in the travel industry and are excited to add a respected brand like Travelocity to our roster of partners.”
