has announced the contract signing by http://www.piac.com.pkPakistan International Airlines
(PIA) for the Sabre Quasar passenger revenue accounting system. PIA, based in Karachi, Pakistan, is the eighth airline to sign up for the Quasar system.
The Quasar system is a passenger revenue accounting solution designed to process airline ticket transactions for accurate and timely recognition of earned revenue. The system allows airlines to reduce cost, increase revenue and analyze detailed marketing data to enhance their competitive position. The system is available as an application service provider solution under the Sabre eMergo suite of Web-enabled and dedicated network solutions, or it can be installed onsite.
“PIA has maintained a long-term IT partnership with Sabre Airline Solutions and has been successfully using a number of the company`s solutions,” said Kaleem Malik, chief financial officer of PIA. “The combination of Sabre Airline Solution`s reputation as a software supplier and the Quasar system`s functionality were key factors in our decision process. We believe Quasar will be an important tool in helping PIA further improve its business operations.”
PIA`s selection of the Quasar system supports a growing trend among airlines toward increased automation of the passenger revenue accounting process.
“While airline management has long understood the value of quality revenue accounting information, there is now also a growing recognition of the strategic value of having detailed ticketing data readily available for analysis within two days of the ticket purchase,” said Steve Clampett, president of Airline Products and Services for Sabre Airline Solutions. “This capability and other benefits are making a convincing case for many airlines to replace costly and outdated manual systems.”
PIA carries approximately 6 million passengers per year, with an average of 160 daily departures, serving 74 airports with 46 aircraft.
