Jumby Bay Resort Sold Back to Island

19th Apr 2002

JUMBY BAY RESORT, Antigua, has changed hands again. Almost two-and-a-half years
after acquiring the 39-room resort on a private island, hotelier Heinz
Simonitsch, who also owns Jamaica`s Half Moon resort, sold Jumby Bay back to a
group of 14 homeowners who control the island—and now the property. The group
promptly tapped Dallas-based Rosewood Hotels & Resorts to manage Jumby Bay.

Rosewood will spend $2.5 million through the end of the year to refurbish the
resort. Dan Reid, formerly with a resort in Bali, has been named managing
director, effective May 15. Rosewood officials have not yet determined whether
to close Jumby Bay during the spruce-up.
