DORINT HOTELS & RESORTS SET TO EXPAND IN 2002
German hotel group, Dorint Hotels & Resorts, is on schedule to open 11 properties in 3 countries during 2002.
The 3-star properties in Germany include the Dorint Am Graben in Aachen, Dorint Adlershof Berlin and the Dorint An der Universitat Mannheim which open in the spring. Scheduled for a summer opening are the Dorint An der Charite Berlin Mitte, Dorint Hotel Eschborn Frankfurt, Dorint Hotel Neu-Isenburg Frankfurt and the Dorint An der Messe Hamburg. The Dorint Hotel Morsenbroich Dusseldorf opens in the autumn. Also opening in the spring is the 4-star Dorint Kongress-Hotel Karlsruhe in Germany.
The New Year also sees the doors of the 3-star Dorint Hotel An der Messe Basel open in Switzerland and, heralded as the first Dorint Hotel in France, will be the 4-star Dorint Airport-Hotel Paris Roissy which is scheduled for the end of 2002.
There are no plans to increase the Group’s existing thirteen five star properties in 2002 but future plans see expansion into Ibiza, Portugal, Tenerife, Germany and Austria.
In 2000, Dorint Hotels & Resorts and Inter-Continental Hotels joined forces as a joint venture company in Germany to combine only operational synergies whilst sales, marketing, and reservation systems remained separate. The first hotels to be included were the Hotel Inter-Continental Berlin, and the newly constructed Dorint Schweizerhof Berlin that was opened across the road in August 1999. The two hotels operate as one unit, but still under their respective brand names and own standards. To follow will be Cologne, where the 260 room Stadthaus will be rebuilt and opened as an Inter-Continental in the spring of 2002 as part of a multi-purpose development.

The hotel will be managed through the joint venture and paired with the existing, nearby Dorint Kongress Hotel (284 rooms) according to the same business model as that introduced in Berlin.
