Abacus Implements e-Ticketing in Thailand

ABACUS-connected travel agencies in Thailand are now able to issue their customers with electronic tickets for travel on Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific.
Thailand is the seventh market in Asia where ABACUS
has implemented electronic ticketing capabilities.

“The introduction of electronic ticketing to our customers in Thailand is part of ABACUS’ larger expansion plans here” said Rogelio Sarreal, VP - Head of Associate Sales.

“We continue to make significant headway into the Thai market together with the commitment of ABACUS’ partner carriers, Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines. Electronic ticketing is gaining popularity in Asia and airlines see the benefits this tool can offer them in terms of reaching out to the modern Asian traveller. We have already successfully introduced this technology in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and New Zealand and hope to bring it to the rest of Asia-Pacific soon,” he added.

Electronic ticketing is a real-time method for airlines and travel agents to issue tickets. Individual ticket information is stored within the airline’s reservation system and can be retrieved electronically.

Mr. Philip Goh, Singapore Airlines
Vice President Sales and Distribution said, “Over the past two years, we have been working closely with ABACUS to implement e-ticketing in our key markets across Asia. So far we have done this in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and New Zealand with positive feedback from agents and travellers alike.”

Travellers no longer have to worry about losing valuable flight coupons and their tickets can be downloaded securely from any Internet-connected PC by entering their personalised reference number.”

Electronic ticketing is recognised as the ticketing option of the future as processing a ticket in this manner is faster and more efficient as tickets can be issued online. Electronic ticketing is a cost and time efficient option for travel agents and has been successfully implemented by carriers and travel agencies globally.
