Worldspan is to provide its XML Pro product which will be integrated into asia-hotels.comå‘s platform to automate its reservations process and expand the range of hotels that can be booked by travellers.

XML Pro is a data-exchange technology that enables online services to easily build fully functional travel applications, thanks to its complete message library that allows a site to send and receive structured requests and information from the Worldspan system. A key benefit of XML Pro is its multi-tasking capabilities that transform complex transactions in a fraction of the normal time, as well as eliminating the need for varied communications protocols and formats.

Jon Stonham,’s co-founder and CEO comments: “We launched asia-hotels six years ago as we were convinced the Internet would become a viable alternative channel for people to search for and book hotel accommodation in the region. Our prediction was proven right. The site is now a very popular service, especially the customer reviews and our independent inspection reports of hotels.

“We constantly look to the future to ensure the site builds on its popularity, to attract more and more users by making it more ‘friendly’ and responsive, and to increase the range of hotel properties that can be booked. That’s why we have joined with Worldspan, which in many ways pioneered travel e-commerce, to enhance our offering. Worldspan understands our proposition and quickly identified how its technology could help.”

ADVERTISEMENT will use Worldspan XML Pro to automate its reservations process further and to expand the site’s hotel inventory, particularly with larger hotel chains. Worldspan will also provide its Worldspan Go!SM via the Internet PC product, one of the most advanced desktop solutions available, as a value-added tool for making bookings off-line.
