First Marriott Resort in the Lone Star State

9th Dec 2003

This isn`t your flat, dusty Texas of movie Westerns and novels. Those intrigued by the lore and charm of the lake-filled, rolling landscape of the Texas Hill Country between Austin and San Antonio will now have a
resort hotel and conference center to add to their “getaway” leisure and
business destinations list, come October 2004.

On the shores of Lake LBJ, 50 minutes from Austin, the Horseshoe Bay Resort Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, Marriott`s first resort hotel
in Texas and the only one in the heart of Texas` famed Hill Country, will open next Fall in the middle of Texas` best-kept secret: the 6,500-acre Horseshoe Bay Resort, which features three Robert Trent Jones, Sr. 18-hole
championship golf courses, world-class tennis, a spa, watercraft rentals, and even a private 6,000-foot-runway airport.

“Businesses and state and national associations that have been itching for a true resort property in the heart of the Texas Hill Country for their board retreats and annual conferences are booking for 2004 and beyond,”
said Joe Reardon, director of sales and marketing. “We`re perfect for families, too; from reunions to weddings to romantic couples` weekends, many of our guest rooms and function spaces offer lake or Hill Country views.”
