New Name to Increase Business Travel

Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Chicago Northwest, formerly Crowne Plaza of Elgin, has been renamed to reflect the highly reputable Holiday Inn brand. The name change coincides with the hotel`s five-year anniversary.
“The Holiday Inn brand is both highly recognizable and reputable in the Midwest,” stated Eric Lund, senior vice president of sales and marketing at The Great Lakes Companies. “We are confident that the new name will increase the hotel`s exposure to the business and leisure traveler.”
The Great Lakes Companies, Inc., a diversified real estate company, opened the Crowne Plaza in October 1998. Great Lakes owns and operates 12 hotels and resorts, including three other Holiday Inn brands in Wisconsin.
In celebration of the new name and five-year anniversary, members of the community gathered for a brief presentation by Mayor Schock, Kimberly Bless, executive director of Elgin Convention and Visitors Bureau and Eric Lund of Great Lakes. Following an anniversary toast, 500 Holiday Inn green and gold balloons fell from the ceiling commemorating the name change and anniversary.
The event also served as a business after hours for members of surrounding chambers: Elgin Area Chamber, Northern Kane County Chamber and South Elgin Chamber of Commerce.
The hotel will continue to offer the same high level of service. The eight-story hotel features: 243 guest rooms, each equipped with a data port and large 25” TVs; a fully equipped business center; conference space; Bennigan`s Grill & Tavern; large indoor pool; whirlpool; game room; and exercise/fitness center. The hotel will be adding high speed Internet access to all of its rooms and conference centers. For more information, visit www.greatlakesco.com.
