Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts Ends Management Contract

Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts today announced that the Group will be ending its long and close relationship with Ipoh Garden Berhad (IGB) for the management of Pan Pacific Pangkor Island. The resort will be renamed The Pangkor Island Resort and be managed by the owners IGB, directly.
Pan Pacific has successfully managed the 240-room resort since 1984. Located at the north end of Pangkor Island, west of Peninsula Malaysia, Pan Pacific Pangkor Island is one of the most desirable and loved resorts in Malaysia. The resort is well known for its excellent service and idyllic location amidst acres of tropical virgin forest and breathtaking white sandy beach which fronts the resort.
Mr Ichigo Umehara, President of Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts said the parting is both amicable and by mutual consent.
“Pan Pacific has managed the resort since 1984 and we are proud to have contributed to the growth of Pan Pacific Pangkor Island. IGB is now re-investing in its facilities and looking to attract new markets, and we feel that the time is right for us to part company and go forward to pursue other interests which will allow us to achieve our respective business goals,” said Mr Umehara.
The current management team of the property will remain in place and both parties will work to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
Added Mr Tan Boon Lee, CEO, Hotel Division of IGB: “We want to place on record our appreciation of the hard work that Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts have put in all these years to make Pan Pacific Pangkor Island what it is today, especially in establishing a culture among the resort`s staff of personalised care for guests and each other.”
