Rocco Forte Appoints Angelo Maresca

Rocco Forte Hotels is pleased to announce the appointment of Angelo Maresca to run the restaurant operations at Brown`s Hotel, Mayfair, effective 1st September 2003. A major relaunch of the restaurant is in its development phase at present. In the meantime we will shortly be introducing a new menu into Brown`s which will concentrate on an English style of cooking with daily favourites carved from the trolley.

Prior to joining the team at Brown`s Mr Maresca was Restaurant Manager at The Savoy Grill for 21 years. He is renowned for being able to recognise hundreds of regular diners and for remembering their favourite tables.

Sir Rocco commented, “We are delighted to have Angelo with us so soon after taking over Brown`s Hotel. His experience of the London market will be a great asset to us. We look forward to working with him on new restaurant concepts which form part of the plans to refurbish the hotel over the coming months. He worked for the old Trusthouse Forte company at Quaglino`s Hotel and the Grosvenor House. When Willie Bauer left the Grosvenor House to manage the Savoy he took Angelo with him and so it is nice to have him back in the fold after all these years.”

Rocco Forte Hotels took over Brown`s Hotel in July this year. The £51.5m purchase was a joint venture with Bank of Scotland. The hotel currently offers 118 bedrooms, including 10 suites; the award-winning 1837 Restaurant with private dining room for 10 people; The Library restaurant; The Drawing Room for afternoon tea; St George`s Bar; 7 function suites for up to 120 people; and a fitness centre.
