Suburban Franchise Systems Appoints Newbury

Suburban Franchise Systems’ Board of Directors appoints Carl Newberry to the board. Newberry formally joined Suburban Franchise Systems, Inc. (SFS) as chief financial officer in December of 2002 after serving as the company’s financial consultant for nearly a year.
“Carl has been an integral part of the team,” said Al Scott a principal at Omnicorp Resources, Inc. and a member of the SFS board of directors. “His financial expertise coupled with his knowledge of our organization made him a natural addition.”

Since Suburban is a franchisee-owned company, Newberry and Kevin Lewis, president of SFS, are the only two board members who are not franchisees.

Newberry has held leadership positions at both financial and hospitality institutions over the past 30 years. He brings a wealth of experience from Days Inn, where he served as the chief financial officer and helped grow the company from 12 properties in 1972 to over 250 in 1978. Prior to joining SFS, Newberry was partner and director of operations for Berryfield Hotel Group, a financial consultancy serving financial institutions and hotel operators.
