Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, a full-service hotel brand of Marriott International, Inc. , announced today the opening of the new 217-room Renaissance Arts Hotel in New Orleans. Located at 700 Tchoupitoulas Street in the heart of the emerging New Orleans historic Warehouse/Arts District, the hotel is the second Renaissance in New Orleans and joins the brand`s portfolio of more than 120 properties worldwide.

Renaissance Arts Hotel hotel`s dramatic interior includes a four-story, glass-enclosed atrium lobby and two sculpture gardens showcasing pieces by local and regional artists. In addition, the lobby houses the Arthur Roger Gallery on Tchoupitoulas, displaying a permanent collection and exhibitions of regional, national and international artists. This is the second art gallery opened by Arthur Roger in the city of New Orleans.

Three Dale Chihuly chandeliers were commissioned exclusively for the hotel and will grace the lobby ceiling, and dynamic artwork by New Orleans-based artists Mitchell Gaudet, Lin Emery and Luis Cruz Azaceta greet guests entering the lobby and meeting space areas. Prints by prominent local artists like Allison Stewart and Francis X. “The stylish and distinctive Renaissance Arts Hotel, with its emphasis on artwork by local artists, reflects the culture of New Orleans and enhances our guests` travel experiences,” said Sid Yu, brand vice president, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts. “Throughout the entire hotel, they will experience a welcoming and entertaining sense of place.”

Kimberly-Clark Corporation is the principal private sector investor of the property, situated in the renovated five-story Union Warehouse. Built in 1910 and listed on the National Register for Historic Places, the warehouse was renovated by Historic Hospitality Investments, Inc. as a “certified historic rehabilitation” in accordance with preservation guidelines established by the federal government. “The opening of the Renaissance Arts Hotel and signature arts concept provides yet another jewel for the unrivaled cultural setting of New Orleans` historic Warehouse/Arts District,” said Dave Bernard, vice president, taxes, Kimberly-Clark Corporation. “Kimberly-Clark is pleased to have invested in the public/private partnership that has given the landmark Union Warehouse new life as a first-class hotel and will help stimulate further economic development opportunities in downtown.”

The Renaissance Arts Hotel also offers special touches, including drawing pads and markers given to children checking in, an educated hotel staff ready to provide information about their favorite art and artists showcased in the hotel, a self-guided tour of the hotel`s art as well as the Warehouse/Arts District, and events, like dinners with local artists at La Cote Brasserie`s chef`s table.

The Renaissance Arts Hotel will feature a street restaurant, La Cote Brasserie, created by Executive Chef Richard “Bingo” Starr in consultation with French Master Chef Rene Bajeux. Designed with vibrant colors and mosaic glass, the restaurant`s flowing, curving design encompasses the bar, the chef`s dining table with floor-to-ceiling wine bottle display as a backdrop, and an oyster bar in front of an open kitchen. The menu features fresh seafood specialties, such as Rouille Crusted Yellowfin Tuna with roasted vegetable caponata, fried calamari and wilted rapini. Celebrated pastry chef Joy Jessup crafts house-made desserts and pastries, such as blackberry cabernet sorbet with creme fraiche sorbet and lemon scented meringues, to complement the menu.

Guest rooms not only capture the look of a warehouse loft-style bedroom, but also offer distinctive Renaissance touches, such as the deluxe Renaissance bed with feather-top pillow mattress, down duvet and Bio toiletries. Each guest room features a 27-inch television with cable and in-room movies, two- line telephone with data port, voice mail, mini bar, iron and ironing board, complimentary in-room coffee, hairdryer and bathrobe.
