Seattle Marriott Makes a Big Splash

SEATTLE - June 5, 2003 - J.W. Marriott, Jr., chairman and CEO of Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR), and Thomas J. Hutchison, III, chief executive officer of CNL Hospitality Properties, Inc., today joined General Manager Dan Banchiu, local officials and over 300 invited guests for the grand opening of the Seattle Marriott Waterfront hotel. The property is the company’s first full-service Marriott in downtown Seattle and just the second hotel to boast an address on Seattle’s famous waterfront. Located at 2100 Alaskan Way, the Seattle Marriott Waterfront is owned by CNL Hospitality Properties and managed by Marriott International.

Overlooking Elliott Bay, the Seattle Marriott Waterfront is located on a prime piece of real estate on Seattle’s famous waterfront. Additionally, the hotel is directly across from the Bell Harbor International Conference Center and within walking distance of major attractions and shopping destinations including, Pike Place Market, the Seattle Aquarium, the Space Needle and Seattle Center. “This beautiful hotel is a key component in the revitalization of the central waterfront district, which is now a thriving neighborhood that contributes significantly to the economic and cultural vitality of the city,” said Port of Seattle Chief Executive Officer M.R. Capitalizing on its waterfront location, all guest rooms at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront overlook Elliott Bay and provide views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountain range. Approximately half offer private balconies. Guest rooms are elegantly appointed and feature the signature “Marriott Bed” with pillowed mattresses, oversized down comforters and feather pillows. The Seattle Marriott Waterfront is also home to Fish Club, celebrity chef Todd English’s first restaurant in the Pacific Northwest and his first venture with Marriott International.
