Summerfield Suites(R) by Wyndham (AMEX:WBR) has been ranked as the number one hotel brand in the upper, upscale suite category from Business Travel News. Unmatched in the hotel industry, this honor is a result of the growing strength of the Wyndham brand and its philosophy of listening and responding to guest needs.
This year, Business Travel News added a third extended-stay price point to the hotel chain survey—upper, upscale—to further differentiate properties from simply upscale or midprice. Scores for the upper upscale segment were established based on nine categories, including the recent increase of brands in the segment and the different service levels offered. Of the nine criteria survey respondents were asked to judge, Summerfield Suites by Wyndham received the highest scores in each.
“This honor validates our dedication to maintaining our leadership position in the all-suites category and demonstrates our commitment to meeting the changing needs of guests,” said Fred J. Kleisner, chairman and chief executive office of Wyndham International. “Much of Summerfield`s success can be attributed to the proliferation of the Wyndham brand. Our brand philosophy of listening and responding to guest needs, out of which Wyndham ByRequest(R) was formed, has been crucial in gaining significant market share and building brand loyalty among guests. By incorporating this philosophy and Wyndham ByRequest into Summerfield Suites, guests are identifying more with the overall Wyndham brand and have come to appreciate and expect exceptional programs, incentives, services and amenities that Wyndham has to offer.”
Over the last two years, Summerfield Suites has adopted many of the distinctive services and amenities that were already in place at full-service Wyndham properties, including the company`s unique guest recognition program, Wyndham ByRequest. The program, which empowers guests to ask for and receive what they need to personalize their room, is the first of its kind for an extended-stay chain. In addition, Wyndham revolutionized the hotel industry last year by offering free, unlimited, local and long distance phone calls(1), free high-speed Internet access, and free copying and faxing privileges for all members.
Further demonstrating its commitment to meeting the changing needs of guests, Wyndham conducted focus groups to gain direct insight into what travelers want from an extended-stay experience. Based on this feedback, Wyndham announced its newly redesigned concept for its all-suites brand. The new Summerfield Suites concept meets the need for an extended-stay product in urban and suburban areas by offering flexibility so properties can be constructed in both a traditional campus style, as well as a mid-rise design to meet the needs of the local market and to fit the property size. The redesigned guest rooms are contemporary and fresh, featuring bright yet light colors that balance with richly textured fabrics, giving guests the perfect blend of comfort and luxury.
In addition to the guest rooms, the Great Room—the hotel`s registration area as well as the primary meeting and social area of the property—has been redesigned, offering guests a comfortable spot to enjoy the complimentary breakfast buffet or evening social hours.
The new Summerfield Suites will continue to offer superior amenities and distinctive personalized service that are synonymous with the Wyndham brand, including high-speed Internet access, fitness centers, pools, sports courts, business services, extra meeting space, grocery shopping service, movie rentals, 24-hour convenience store, dry cleaning service and laundry facilities.
