William Ben Tutt Appointed at Wyndham
William Ben Tutt has joined the new Wyndham Martineau Bay Resort & Spa in Puerto Rico as general manager. The 156-room oceanfront resort, set to open Feb. 24, 2003, offers unparalleled accommodation and service from its perch on the lush and tranquil island of Vieques. In his new post, Tutt oversees all areas of the resort`s operation and has been instrumental in its pre-opening phase.
Having served at the Wyndham El Conquistador Resort and Golden Door(R) Spa in nearby Las Croabas as director of rooms since 2000, Tutt brings a keen understanding of the market to his position. His responsibilities there encompassed overseeing more than 400 employees including management in several departments such as housekeeping, reservations, front office, guest services, marina, transportation and security. Tutt was also part of the corporate task force charged with setting internal service standards, and was responsible for budgeting and forecasting. Tutt came to the resort with a solid foundation gained through supervising management and staff in various operational departments while the rooms division manager at Carmel Valley Ranch - A Wyndham Luxury Resort, in Carmel, Calif. He held the position for three years, and was instrumental in improving profit margins as well as service scores while there.
Prior to his positions within Wyndham, Tutt worked in the hospitality field while earning his Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Colorado and his Masters in Management in Hospitality at Cornell University, School of Hotel Administration. The fourth generation of a hotel family, Tutt`s roots in the business run deep. Three generations of Tutts were involved in the construction and management of the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, and Ben got his start at the age of 14 as an apprentice in the Broadmoor kitchens. Tutt is a member of the Cornell Society of Hotelmen.
