Available from March 1 through June 30, 2003, rates for the Thai New Year 2003 package start at only US$210 (single or double occupancy) and includes two consecutive nights in an Atrium Floor Superior Room, late check out to 3:00 pm and the following complimentary components: one round trip transfer between the airport and hotel; welcome drink & fruit basket; American breakfast buffet in Heights Café; in room tea & coffee facilities; US$15 food & beverage allowance per stay; two 20% discount coupons for Spa facilities; use of Health Club, outdoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi & sauna; and daily international newspaper. Extra nights may be added to the package for US$110. The surcharge for an extra bed is US$40 and upgrade to a Deluxe Room is US$20.
The traditions of Songkran (or Thai New Year) have a long history and are still observed in Thailand and other parts of Southeast Asia. Songkran represents the passing of the sun from Taurus into Aries, a solar event which marks the beginning of a new astrological year. Songkran is April 13 and the Thai New Year festivities are officially held April 12, 13 and 14 but the entire week is said to be filled with activities and celebration.
