Six Continents redefine Channel Distribution

ATLANTA, Georgia and FORT WORTH, Texas (February 6, 2003) - Savvy consumers scouring the Web for the best deals on hotels will soon have 3,300 more reasons to shop Travelocity - thanks to a new “merchant” agreement it has signed with Six Continent Hotels.
The alliance with Six Continents Hotels - with more than 3,300 properties worldwide - extends Travelocity’s growing inventory of low-price hotel offerings to include more than 8,000 participating hotels. The Six Continents family of hotel brands includes: InterContinental® Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza® Hotels and Resorts, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Select®, Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort®, Holiday Inn Express®, Holiday Inn Garden Court(sm), Holiday Inn Family Suites Resorts® and Staybridge Suites® by Holiday Inn®.

“Adding Six Continents Hotels, with its stable of well-known brands, to our merchant hotel inventory advances our program and further validates our position as an innovator in working with hotels to sell their product,” said Michelle Peluso, senior vice president product strategy and distribution for Travelocity. “We are thrilled to be working with Six Continents Hotels.”
Under the terms of the mutually beneficial agreement, Six Continents Hotels will provide Travelocity with direct access to merchant hotel inventory, creating seamless connectivity, via its central reservation system, the Holidex®Plus network. The end result benefits online shoppers and hotels by providing better information for consumers, allowing for room-type selection and improving accuracy in reservations.

“With the increase of online bookings, it`s our priority to ensure our hotels are available to customers in the right place, at the right price, at the right time. Our alliance with Travelocity accomplishes this - and more,” stated Jim Young, Vice President, Global Distribution for Six Continents Hotels. “This new relationship adds value for all parties involved and serves as a model on how to effectively leverage all of the positive attributes that the distributors and hotels have to offer, while mitigating any negatives.”
The roll out of Six Continents Hotels merchant inventory on Travelocity will begin the week of February 10.
