InterContinental Renovates in the Middle East

(London, 31 January 2003) InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is continuing its commitment to achieving excellence in the hospitality industry with an ongoing $1 billion investment programme over five years, including the opening and renovation of flagship InterContinental properties throughout the Middle East. These properties enable guests to indulge in InterContinentalÁ?s new guest services, including head and neck massage on arrival, round-the-clock facilities and room service, instant currency on request and jet lag recovery kit and include:

* InterContinental Garden Reef Resort Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, has now completed construction. This new, exclusive 450-room property, built in Andalusian and Moorish style, offers stunning views of the Sinai Mountains and El Pacha Bay, one of the worldÁ?s best diving areas. The resort features a multi-purpose conference area and business center, health and leisure club, eight tennis courts, two basketball courts, swimming pools and a kids`s club. Diners have a choice of a 350-seat all day restaurant, Oriental and Italian restaurants as well as beach, lobby and Tex-Mex bars.

* InterContinental Heliopolis Cairo: (opens: July 2003). This 792 room property will be located in one of Cairo`s most affluent areas, and will be part of the multi-purpose, US$600 million, `CityStars Heliopolis` complex - a flagship project for the government of Egypt. The complex is being built on an area of 750,000 square meters and will feature: 350,000 square meters of office space, 450 premium apartment units, in-complex medical services, a 16-screen multiplex cinema, Aqua Spa, theme park, tennis and squash courts and a 24-lane bowling alley.


InterContinental Resort Soma Bay, Egypt: (opens December 2003). Located on the Red Sea 12 kms south of Hurghada and 12 kms north of the city of Safaga, this 452-room resort will feature 2 Royal Suites, 22 Senior Suites, 26 Junior Suites, 48 King, and 354 twin rooms. Italian, Greek, Moroccan and Seafood restaurants will cater for leisure and business guests alike.
