Argent Hotel`s Concierge Honored

SAN FRANCISCO—The Argent Hotel’s Chief Concierge Eric Edenfield was honored recently as a “Rising Star” in the hospitality industry at the Sixth Annual Silver Plume Awards Gala. The event, hosted by WHERE Magazine, was held on Sunday, November 10, 2002. Awards were presented and announced in four categories: City Ambassador, Most Supportive General Manager, Rising Star and Concierge of the Year.
“Eric kept good company with his fellow nominees in the category of Rising Star,” said Rose Farhi-Doss, circulation/special events manager at WHERE Magazine San Francisco. “It is evident by a vote of his colleagues, that Eric fully deserved recognition for going above and beyond the norm in his commitment as a concierge, and for his leadership as the current President of the Northern California Concierge Association.”

Silver Plumes are awarded each year to two concierges and one hotel general manager who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to tourism and the ongoing professional development of the concierge industry. The Rising Star Award is presented to the individual who upholds a commitment to excellence in guest services, demonstrates a thorough knowledge of San Francisco, holds the full-time position of a concierge or guest service representative for a minimum of two years, and exhibits high standards of guest service for the hospitality profession and provides support to his/her colleagues. Silver Plume nominations and winners are selected through a ballot mailing to concierge and general managers.

“Eric’s personal touch has elevated the standard of guest services at The Argent,” said Mark Allen, director of marketing. “This award can only begin to recognize his expertise and commitment to building the reputation of the hotel as a first-class destination.”

Edenfield has been in hospitality for more than 15 years and has held positions at the Pier 39 Corporation and the Park Hyatt Hotel. He joined The Argent in 1999. He is currently working to obtain the gold keys from the esteemed international concierge organization, Les Clefs d’Or with hopes of entry in early 2003. Edenfield has been a member of the Northern California Concierge Association since 2000 and currently serves as president of the organization.
