Rocco Forte Hotels is delighted to announce that its Number One restaurant at The Balmoral in Edinburgh has been awarded a Michelin star. This highly-coveted award recognises that a restaurant delivers the finest cuisine, service and ambience for their customers on a consistent basis. Number One is currently the only hotel restaurant in Edinburgh to have gained such an accolade and the only new entry for Scotland.
This is the second time that Executive Chef, Jeff Bland, has been awarded a Michelin Star and is a tribute to the hard work that he has put into Number One since his arrival at The Balmoral in June 1997. Educated in Yorkshire, Jeff previously worked at Cameron House Hotel and Country Club where he won his first Michelin star. He has also spent time as chef to members of the Royal Family and has been called upon to judge on various culinary television programmes, including Master Chef.
Commenting on the award, Gerhard Schaller, General Manager of The Balmoral, said, “We are very proud to receive our Michelin Star, particularly since we are the first hotel restaurant within the Rocco Forte Hotels collection to do so. The hotel has just completed its centenary celebrations and this is the icing on the cake. We will continue to build on this hard work to deliver the highest standards to all of our customers, as will our sister hotels in Brussels, Cardiff, Florence, Manchester, Rome and St Petersburg.”
Number One restaurant has just reopened following refurbishment work and is open seven days a week; for lunch on Monday-Friday, 12 noon-2.00 pm, and for dinner on Monday-Sunday, 7.00-10.00 pm. For reservations, call 0131- 557 6727.
