Ameristar Names Conway CIO

Ameristar Casinos, Inc. (Nasdaq-NMS: ASCA) has appointed Ursula Conway to Chief Information Officer. In this newly created role, she will work closely with corporate executives to align technology efforts with key business objectives, and monitor advances in technology that can further improve Ameristar’s financial and operating performance. She will also have responsibility for all of Ameristar’s information technology functions, including development of new capabilities, system implementation, contract management, and property support.

Conway joined Ameristar in 2000 as Vice President of Information Technology. In this position, she has been responsible for information technology company-wide. She led the conversion of Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City and Ameristar Casino St. Charles to the company’s information technology systems following the acquisition of these properties in 2000. She and her team also played an integral role, from a technology standpoint, in opening the new Ameristar Casino St. Charles in August 2002. Further, her department supported the introduction of the first coinless gaming slot machines in Missouri at Ameristar Casino St. Charles. Some of her additional accomplishments include centralizing systems and implementing a company-wide information technology help desk, evaluating and selecting a new slot systems vendor, deploying standardized desktop systems and introducing voice over IP at corporate.

 

During her 16-year career in information technology management, Conway has been a consultant for Resources Connection and was Chief Technology Officer for Mirage Resorts, where she introduced a new operating paradigm that centralized systems management. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, with a major in Management Information Systems, from the University of Arizona. She is also a Certified Public Accountant.
