Six Continents Franchise Appointment

Six Continents Hotels, Inc. (www.sixcontinentshotels.com), the world’s most global hotel group, has named Robert “Bob” Mayer its vice president of franchise sales for Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts, North America.

In an effort to aggressively expand Crowne Plaza presence in key locations throughout North America, Mayer will be responsible for franchise sales for all Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts in this region. In his new role, Mayer will report directly to Kirk Kinsell, senior vice president, Americas Franchising, Six Continents Hotels.

Most recently, Mayer served as vice president, marketing, Crowne Plaza Hotels and Resorts. Under his leadership, Crowne Plaza added more than 25 Crowne Plaza hotels in North America in the last three years alone, and Mayer was instrumental in helping to develop the repositioning of Crowne Plaza as THE PLACE TO MEET, providing personalized service and one point of contact for hassle-free, successful meetings. Prior to joining Six Continents Hotels in1998, Mayer served as Vice President of Marketing for Madison Square Garden. His responsibilities included strategic planning, database development, brand and product development for entertainment and sports properties, creative services, corporate brand activities and joint product development with parent company Cablevision.

“With Bob’s long-term interest in the franchise sales side of the business, his relationships in the owner and investor community and his work with brand management and the IAHI, Six Continents Hotels’ franchisee advisory group, Bob has a unique perspective and understanding of the hospitality industry,” said Kinsell. “He has demonstrated a number of proven successes throughout his career, and his move from brand marketing to franchise sales will allow him to continue to grow the Crowne Plaza brand. Mayer earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University.
