Howard Johnson New Design Prototypes

Howard Johnson International today announced new design prototypes for new-construction and conversion hotels.

As part of the brand’s 2003 strategic plan, the prototypes were designed to provide guests with a comfortable lodging experience while incorporating the brand’s strong family-friendly heritage.

A conical exterior design feature, which can be easily attached to the building, is illuminated from the sides, accenting the logo and allowing for a bright exterior. The exterior color options are designed to stand out against the competition.

“The exterior lighting creates a warm and friendly appearance and the color options are welcoming for travelers looking for a place to stay,” said Howard Johnson President Mary Mahoney.

The interior front desk and breakfast area millwork incorporate the same elements and lighting used for the exterior. The colors and furniture are contemporary and directed toward leisure and family travelers. Optional design elements include a children’s pool and family lounges that function as a common area and place for children to play.

“Our new design elements were inspired by Howard Johnson’s heritage as a family-friendly home away from home,” said Mahoney. “We believe these new design features will make Howard Johnson® hotels easily recognizable to consumers and provide them with the comfort they expect when staying with us.”
