Shibula Lodge Joins African Pride

African Pride Hotels and Lodges has added Shibula Lodge and Bush Spa, the five star accredited property in the Northern Provinceå‘s Waterberg, to its premier portfolio. Now offering a total of three exclusive game lodges within its portfolio, Shabula joins Lion Sands in the Sabi Sands and Thula Thula in Royal Zulu Umfolosi Reserve. Recently rated as being for the romantic who wants nothing less than the perfect 10, (Marie Claire February 2002) Shibula is set to continue to flourish as an African Pride hotel.
Superbly situated close to the best game-viewing areas of the 33 000-hectare private Welgevonden Game Reserve in the Northern Province, Shibula Lodge hugs the banks of a scenic river and has magnificent views of the overhanging cliffs. “Besides the fantastic game and splendid setting, one of the most important advantages of this reserve is that it is situated in a Malaria-free zone,” said Stan Evans, Managing Director of African Pride Hotels and Lodges. Approximately 2.5 hours from Johannesburg and Sun City, the reserve is also easily close to both Lanseria and Wonderboom airports.

This malaria-free reserve boast Big Five viewings, an astonishing diversity of plant and animal life, as well as more than 350 species of birds. More varieties of antelope can be seen in one area than in any other game reserve in Southern Africa and rhino sightings are of the best in the world. Game rarely seen in other reserves include aardvark and brown hyena, eland, gemsbok, tsessebe and bush pig, whilst night game drives give the visitor an insight into South African wildlife at night.

Shibula is as renowned for its luxury accommodation and game viewing as its world-class Bush Spa. Providing a haven of peace and tranquility, the space offers GUESTS the opportunity to revitalize body and refresh the soul. Treatments have all been carefully chosen to aid relaxation and rejuvenation, with the most popular choice being massage, facials and reflexology.

The décor in the lodge is both exceptional and unique, earning the lodge the title of a real “lady in the bush”. Lace and crystal is subtly blended with authentic African culture. The whole of Shibula’s interior is of a classic ethnic feel. Offering six luxurious chalets, each with private patios en suite bathrooms, inside and outside showers, Victorian baths and mini bars (TV on request). This includes the Royal Suites which incorporating two en suite bedrooms, a Presidential Suite, an Executive Suite, three Standard Units and two Luxury Chalets, with rates ranging from R2 500.00 to R4 500.00 per person sharing.
