Starwood Promotes F. Daniel Gibson Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) announced today the promotion of F. Daniel Gibson to the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs with responsibility for all corporate and financial communications. Mr. Gibson will continue to lead the Company`s Investor Relations efforts and will assume the added responsibilities of Public Relations and Community Affairs. Mr. Gibson will continue to report to Barry S. Sternlicht, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Company and will be a member of the Company`s newly formed Senior Operating Committee.

Mr. Gibson is assuming the responsibilities for Corporate Public Relations from Jim Gallagher, Senior Vice President, who after 20 years with Starwood and ITT Corporation, has decided to leave the company to pursue other interests.

“Dan has elevated and enhanced our overall Investor Relations effort,” said Mr. Sternlicht. “We fully expect he`ll have similar successes in Public Relations and Community Affairs. In addition, Dan`s solid business experience, developed over more than 15 years at Bristol-Myers Squibb, makes him an asset to our decision making process.”

Dan joined Starwood in May of 1998 as Vice President, Investor Relations from Bristol-Myers Squibb where he progressed through various financial positions in Financial Planning and Analysis, Portfolio and Foreign Exchange Risk Management, Division Controller and Investor Relations.

A graduate of Rider University with a BA in Commerce and Fairleigh Dickinson University with an MBA in Systems Management, Dan is also a CPA and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.
