Omni Hotels Flag To Be Removed From Albany And West Palm Beach Hotels

Omni Hotels will remove its flag from two franchised hotels in Albany and West Palm Beach effective Sept. 30, 1999. Omni Hotels cites failure to reach an agreement with the owners of the Omni Albany Hotel in N.Y. and the Omni West Palm Beach Hotel in Florida to bring the properties to a level in keeping with the remaining Omni Hotels portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts.

“It is unfortunate to lose our presence in Albany and West Palm Beach, but we could no longer guarantee the level of services and products to guests in those markets,” said Jim Caldwell, Omni Hotels president. “It is imperative that Omni Hotels maintain its four-diamond, luxury market position. Our franchised hotels, as well as our ownedand managed properties, must share the same vision. This action was meant to preserve Omni Hotels` image, reputation, integrity and good name.”

The Albany and West Palm Beach franchise removals come on the heels of the opening of Omni Hotels` newest luxury resort, the $82.4 million Omni Interlocken Resort, which opened outside of Denver July 2, 1999.
