Carlson Companies on Monday released the following statement regarding a surprise announcement by Preussag, Carlson`s partner in Thomas Cook, that it intends to purchase Thomson Travel Group and sell its 50.1% share in Cook.

Carlson Chairman and CEO Marilyn Carlson Nelson, who also serves as Deputy Chair of Thomas Cook, reaffirmed her company`s support of Cook, saying:

“In the past year Thomas Cook has made significant advancements in both its travel and financial services businesses—investing in market-advantaging technology and rebranding its airline.”
