Carlson Companies Appoints Steve Brown As Chief Information Officer
Carlson Companies, Inc., a global leader in travel, hospitality and marketing services, today announced that Steve Brown is the company`s new Chief Information Officer.
Brown has a long and distinguished career in information management and executive consulting. He most recently served as CIO of Micron Electronics, a global information company serving the business, consumer, education, and government markets with PC products, Internet and web hosting services, and business-to-business e-commerce applications.
Previously, Brown was CIO of 3M spinoff company Imation. He has also directed enterprise integration and telecommunications at Pillsbury, and prior to that he directed systems integration and managed data center functions at GE Aerospace. Brown began his information technology career in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served for 10 years.
In his new position, Brown will report directly to Carlson Companies Chairman and CEO Marilyn Carlson Nelson, and he will serve on the company`s executive committee. He will be responsible for overall strategic direction and policy of information technology for all of Carlson Companies. All group CIOs will report to their company/division presidents and to Brown.
A marketing graduate from Texas Tech University, Brown earned a master`s degree in management information systems from the Naval Post Graduate School.
