Doubletree Hotels has announced that Curtis Martin and Salem Shaheen have been named general managers of the Doubletree Club hotel in Largo, Md. and the Doubletree Guest Suites hotel in Washington, D.C., respectively. Both Martin and Shaheen will be responsible for directing the day-to-day management and operations of these two Washington D.C. area hotels.

Curtis Martin, General Manager - Doubletree Club Hotel Largo A 14-year Doubletree veteran, Martin began his hospitality career in 1988 at the Doubletree Guest Suites in Raleigh/Durham, N.C., where he spent seven years in various leadership positions throughout the hotel. He was promoted to assistant general manager of the Doubletree Guest Suites in St. Louis, Mo. in 1995 and returned to North Carolina the following year to serve as assistant general manager of The Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, N.C. Since 1998, Martin has successfully directed the operations of the Doubletree Guest Suites hotel in Nashville as general manager. Martin earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from North Carolina Central University. His professional affiliations have included active membership on the board of directors of the Greater Nashville Hotel and Lodging Association.

Salem Shaheen, General Manager - Doubletree Guest Suites Washington D.C. Celebrating his 20th anniversary in the hotel business, Shaheen spent 12 years with Hyatt Hotels serving as director of food and beverage at various hotels across the Northeast U.S. He began his permanent career in the Washington D.C. area in 1994 as general manager of a hotel café in Beltsville, Md. and joined Doubletree in 1995 as director of food and beverage of the Doubletree hotel in Falls Church, Va. Shaheen most recently served as assistant general manager of the Doubletree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center in Rockville, Md.
