Thistle Hotels Announces Joint Venture With Christopher Gilmour

Thistle Hotels has teamed up with Christopher Gilmour; proprietor of Christopher`s American Grill in Covent Garden, to develop a second Christopher`s to be located at the Thistle Victoria.

“Christopher`s at Victoria Station” is expected to open in September 2000. It will occupy an elegant Victorian room, formerly the Clarence Restaurant, with 200 covers and an attractive bar. Christopher Gilmour will manage the new restaurant, which will target both residents and non-residents of the hotel.

Says Ian Burke, chief executive, Thistle Hotels, “Christopher`s executive chef, Adrian Searing, has been preparing top quality upscale American food to London`s media personalities and politicians for the past nine years and in that time the restaurant has built a solid reputation for good quality food and service.

Teaming up with Christopher Gilmour is an exciting venture for us. It`s a perfect synergy, matching the Thistle Victoria`s attractive location with the strength of Christopher`s brand and his restaurant management skills”.

Says Christopher Gilmour; “I am absolutely thrilled to have this opportunity. The dining room at the Thistle Victoria has great potential and we look forward to quickly establishing Christopher`s at Victoria Station as the best restaurant in the area”.

The development of Christopher`s at Victoria Station is consistent with Thistle`s restaurant strategy to bring in expertise from outside the hotel industry in order to maximise customer satisfaction and profit from its food operations.
