Sol Meliá Names New General Managers For Meliá Hotels In Seville And Lanzarote

Rafael Alcaide has been named new General Manager of the new Meliá Colón Hotel - previously the Tryp Colón-, with a magnificent location in the old quarter in the center of Seville, and considered one of the most prestigious hotels in the city and a magnet for the bullfighting glitterati.


Rafael Alcaide has a distinguished record in the hotel industry and has held different position with Sol Meliá in company hotels in Cordoba, Granada, Valladolid, Cáceres and Barcelona, until being named General Manager of the Meliá Cáceres in 1993, before moving on to his latest position as General Manager of the Meliá Confort Apolo in Barcelona.


Oguz Birced has also been named General Manager of the emblematic Gran Meliá Salinas Hotel on the Costa Teguise in Lanzarote on the Spanish Canary Islands, a hotel which has recently been selected as a member of the exclusive club of the “Leading Hotels of The World”.


36 years old and with more than 15 years experience in the business, Birced has held several positions in hotels on the Spanish Costa Brava, in Andalusia, Cuba and the Canary Islands. In the islands themselves, the new General Manager of the Gran Meliá Salinas has managed two hotels for the H10 Hotels chain in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife) and Fuerteventura.
