Sol Meliá Wins Award For Best Stand At FITUR 2001 Tourism Trade Fair

Sol Meliá has won the “Best Stand” award in the category of “Companies and Official Organisations” at the FITUR International Tourism Fair held in Madrid from 30th. January to 4th. February. The award was shared with AENA and FEVE.


The award ceremony, presided over by the Chairman of the Jury, Julio González Soria, took place at the Sol Meliá stand itself on 2nd. February. The twentieth edition of the annual trade fair attracted 600 exhibitors and 8,296 companies from 170 countries.


The Sol Meliá stand occupied a surface area of 350 metres squared over two floors. The lower floor hosted public areas and a bar, while the upper floor was made up of private meeting rooms.


An enormous panel with images of the lake-style swimming pool at the con Meliá Caribe-Tropical in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) formed the backdrop for the stand, symbol of Sol Meliá‘s position as the leading resort hotel company in the world and the largest hotel chain in Latin America and the Caribbean.


The rest of the decoration included images of the more than 330 hotels the company provides in 30 countries on 4 continents, with special emphasis on the hotels in the European City Division and the hotels taken over after the recent purchase of the TRYP hotel chain.
