Jaime Puig De La Bellacasa, New Sol Melia Vice President For Communication And Institutional Relatio

Sol Meliá has named Jaime Puig de la Bellacasa as its new Vice President for Communication and Institutional Relations. He will focus on encouraging greater communication with national and international media, improving internal communication within the company and intensifying Sol Meliá`s relations and contacts with the most important public and private institutions.


Jaime Puig de la Bellacasa was born in Madrid and obtained an honours degree in Business Administration from the University of Buckingham (United Kingdom). He is married with one son and is fluent in Spanish, English and Italian.


The new Sol Meliá Vice President for Communication and Institutional Relations began working for the company in 1995 as assistant to the Chief Financial Officer, with his main task being assisting with the reorganisation of what was then the Grupo Sol before its July 1996 IPO. He later became Vice President Hotel Development, a position he has held until his recent appointment.


Jaime Puig de la Bellacasa began his career in the London firm H. R. Owen as a Marketing Assistant. He then moved on the Project Finance Department at Morgan Grenfell, specialising in international projects. He then spent seven years at Credit Suisse First Boston, rising to Vice President.


In 1994, he moved on to New York to head the Mexican Division of Paribas. Jaime Puig de la Bellacasa is a great fan of music, travel, video games and sports.

According to a survey carried out by the Public Relations agency “Power Comunicación” to find out the opinions of the media on the information they receive from public and private companies in the tourism industry, Sol Meliá was the highest rated hotel company, averaging 7.4 on a scale of 1 to 10. Sol Meliá currently operates more than 260 hotels in 27 countries.
