Canon and Sol Meliá have recently signed an international sales agreement by which the Japanese company will provide the 245 hotels managed by the Spanish company throughout the world with photocopiers, faxes and printers. Canon is a world leader in the supply of office equipment and has its European headquarters in Amsterdam in Holland. In 1997 the company had a turnover of 3.04 billion pesetas and employed 78,767 people world-wide.
Through this type of agreements with leading international companies, Sol Meliá aims to improve the service provided to guests and to the owners of hotels that form part of the Spanish chain.
In recent times Sol Meliá has reached more than 30 such agreements with companies that are able to provide services and supplies to all of Sol Meliá‘s hotels, regardless of their location, thus guaranteeing the standardisation of hotel products and generating economies of scale that are boosting hotel profitability.
Sol Meliá is the leading company in the Spanish hotel industry in both the business and leisure hotel sectors and currently operates 245 hotels in 25 countries on 4 continents.
