Miguel Payeras Lliteras, New Vice-President Of The Sol Meliá Asia Pacific Division

Miguel Payeras Lliteras has been named the new Vice-President of the Asia Pacific Division of the Spanish hotel management company Sol Meliá, replacing Agust’n Serrano who has been appointed Director of Operations for the Company’s European City Division with headquarters in Palma de Majorca, Spain.


Miguel Payeras is 39 years old and was born in Palma de Majorca. He will now be responsible for the operation of the 15 hotels in the Division as well as for the achievement of the Company’s growth objectives in the Asia Pacific region.


Miguel Payeras graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Barcelona and achieved a Master in Business Administration from the University of Navarra. He is fluent in Spanish, English, French and German.


Payeras, a member of the Sol Meliá Executive Committee, began his career in the Company in 1986, occupying positions as Executive Director of Auditing and Planning and Executive Director of Management Systems giving him full responsibility in the area of hotel auditing, consulting, information systems, hotel technology and innovation. He was also one of the key players in the Company’s stock market flotation in 1996.


Some of the most important achievements of Miguel Payeras in Sol Meliá has included the creation of the Sol Meliá Intranet service and the implementation of a Total Quality Management Plan which enabled the Company to earn the Prince Felipe Prize for Business Excellence in 1993. He was also actively involved in the work that lead to Sol Meliá obtaining the ISO 9002 quality certificate, making the Company the first European hotel company to qualify for the award.
