Ameristar Names Callahan as Communications Chief

Ameristar Casinos, Inc. (Nasdaq-NMS: ASCA) has named Kathy Callahan corporate director of communications. In this capacity, she will report to Corporate Vice President of Administration Connie Wilson. Callahan will direct Ameristar’s comprehensive internal and external communications functions including image and reputation programs, media relations, community affairs and sponsorships, and team member communication programs.

“I am very pleased to announce Kathy’s appointment to our team,” says Wilson. “She is a talented communications generalist with strong strategic as well as tactical skills, which will serve us well in developing and communicating Ameristar’s messages to our audiences.” Prior to joining Ameristar, Callahan was director of strategic employee communications at Harrah’s Entertainment headquarters in Las Vegas, where she led the corporate-wide employee communications function. With more than 15 years of corporate communications experience, Callahan’s career also spans executive communications and corporate image programs. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami (Fla.) and a doctoral degree in German Literature from the University of Virginia. She serves on the board of directors of the Hospitality Federal Credit Union, Memphis, Tenn.
