Marriott Expands UK Portfolio With Opening Of Second Hotel In Liverpool

Marriott International (NYSE: MAR) expanded its presence in the United Kingdom with the opening of the 164-room Liverpool Marriott South Hotel under a franchise agreement with the Whitbread Hotel Company.

The hotel was built in the former Speke Airport terminal building and is just one mile from the Liverpool International Airport. It is also conveniently located to the motorway network.

The hotel’s rooms were designed to reflect the airport’s art deco design and house the latest in modern conveniences. The Ambassador Suite is located in the restored control tower and offers breathtaking views across the Mersey Estuary to Wales. In addition, the former hanger is now the David Lloyd Leisure Club. Hotel guests may take advantage of the leisure club’s indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis and badminton courts, large fitness suite, spa, steam room and sauna.

For meetings, The Liverpool Marriott South Hotel has nine specially built conference rooms, which can accommodate up to 250 people. In addition, there are three boardrooms on the executive floor, which may be used for small meetings of up to 10 people.

With the opening of the Liverpool International Airport Marriott Hotel, Marriott International has more than 10,000 rooms in the UK, including seven hotels in London, as well as hotels in other UK cities, including Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, and Sheffield.

The Liverpool Marriott South Hotel along with almost 2,000 Marriott-affiliated hotels worldwide participates in Marriott Rewards, the guest reward program that allows members to earn their choice of points or airline miles for dollars spent during each stay.
