Ted Carman Joins ExecuStay By Marriott As Chief Operating Officer

Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) announced today that Ted Carman has been named senior vice president and chief operating officer for ExecuStay, the company`s corporate housing services division.

Mr. Carman, who will celebrate 30 years with Marriott in July, joined ExecuStay on
Feb. 19. He oversees ExecuStay`s revenue management, sales and marketing, information technology, warehouse and amenities divisions.


I am very pleased that Ted has joined ExecuStay by Marriott, said Gary Abrahams, president and chief executive officer of ExecuStay. Ted`s expertise and superb knowledge of Marriott make him a tremendous asset to our corporate housing business.

Mr. Carman`s Marriott career began in 1971 as a business food service management trainee. During the next 12 years, he helped open and develop Marriott Food Service divisions throughout the New England area. He was named resident manager of the Boston Long Wharf Marriott in 1983, after which he served as general manager for Marriott full-service hotels in West Virginia, Connecticut and New York. He was the first cluster general manager in the New York region, subsequently served as regional director of operations, and was instrumental in combining the New York and New England regions into the Northeast Region, as it is today.


In 1998, Mr. Carman joined Marriott Hotels Resorts and Suites Franchising as vice president, franchise operations, and was named vice president, market management, for the Northeast Region the following year.

He is a graduate of the Cornell School of Hotel Administration.
