Pacific Star Hotel Renamed Guam Marriott Resort

Following 12 months of refurbishment, the Pacific Star Hotel has been officially renamed the Guam Marriott Resort. Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE: MAR) was named to manage the hotel in February 2000. The hotel, which opened in 1987, is Marriott`s first property in Guam.

Owned by Republic of Nauru Guam, Inc., whose primary shareholder is the Nauru Phosphate Royalties Trust, the resort is located on a beachfront site on Tumon Bay on Guam. Guam International Airport is located about three miles from the resort and is served by a number of international air carriers.

The Guam Marriott Resort has introductory rates of US $150 a night, including a full breakfast buffet, until July 19, 2001.

All 436 rooms at the Guam Marriott Resort have ocean views. They feature amenities such as private balconies, individually controlled air-conditioning, voice mail, complimentary coffee and bottled water, refrigerators, hair dryers, color televisions, basic cable, in-room pay movies, irons and ironing boards, large desks and smoke detectors. The resort also offers a marine center with water sports, outdoor swimming pool, children`s pool, tennis courts, fitness center, 24-hour room service, complimentary airport transfers, beauty salon, business center, concierge desk, game room, laundry and valet service, underground and valet parking, and tour information desk.
For dining and entertainment, the Guam Marriott Resort has three restaurants Ð the Manhattan Steakhouse, serving top-grade steaks and seafood; the Marriott Cafe serving three meals a day with an emphasis on Asian cuisine; and The View, open 24 hours a day and serving pizza, deli sandwiches, desserts, cocktails and snacks. In addition, the resort has two bars Ð 898 Cigar Lounge and the Pool Bar.

The resort can accommodate large and small meetings. It has seven meeting rooms with a total of 8,594 square feet. Capable of accommodating 600 people for receptions and 500 for banquets, the pillarless ballroom is 5,515 square feet and is divisible into three sections. There are four additional meeting rooms. All have extensive audio-visual equipment, including spotlights and an electronic wide-screen.
