Marriott International Names Richard Green Vice President Of Industry Relations For Association Sale

Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) has named Richard Green vice president, industry relations for association sales. Formerly executive director of association sales, Green will now represent Marriott at key industry events and serve as the company`s main point of contact for association customers.

In his new role, Green will identify trends within the association market and help tailor sales efforts to better meet customer needs. He will also assist in the development and maintenance of industry trade shows, customer events and sponsorships.

Before re-joining Marriott in 1997, Green was vice president of sales for the Greater Boston Convention and Visitors Bureau. Prior to that, he spent 10 years with Marriott as a national account executive in the Washington, D.C. office and was the opening director of association sales at the San Francisco Marriott.

Green continues to support Marriott`s National Account Organization (NAO) efforts as an association industry expert and oversee Marriott`s participation at industry trade shows. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) Foundation Board of Directors, where he chairs the ASAE Foundation Research Task Force, and holds a two-year term on the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives (GWSAE) Board of Directors. Green is also chairing the Convention Industry Council`s Hall of Leaders Dinner to be held at the JW Marriott, Washington, D.C. on December 12, and is on the program committee for the International Association for Exhibition Managers (IAEM). In addition, he is active in the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and Meeting Planners International (MPI).

In 1995, Green was named ASAE Fellow, one of only 38 non-association executives in the country to earn this recognition. He has also served as president for both the Southern and Northern California chapters of the Hotel Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI). Green graduated with a B.S. degree in Business Administration, majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, from the University of Denver, where he currently serves as the past president of the Alumnae Board of Directors.
