Marriott International Appoints Chuck Kelley To Senior Vice President

Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE/MAR) has named Chuck Kelley the new Senior Vice President for the Latin America and Caribbean Region, effective November 1, 1999, announced Ed Fuller, president and managing director of Marriott`s international hotel operations.

In his new capacity, Kelley will be responsible for the operational and financial performance of Marriott`s 36 hotels and resorts in Latin America and the Caribbean. This responsibility will encompass four of Marriott`s lodging brands: Marriott Hotels, Resorts & Suites; Renaissance Hotels & Resorts; Residence Inn; and Courtyard.

“We are delighted to promote Chuck to this new position,” said Fuller. “Chuck has done an outstanding job helping us grow outside the United States and brings a wealth of operational and marketing experience to his new position.”


Kelley joined Marriott in 1977 as an assistant restaurant manager at the Chicago Marriott O`Hare Hotel and, since then, has held various operational and marketing positions of increasing responsibility. In 1984, he was appointed the opening director of marketing at the Overland Park Marriott Hotel in Kansas. For eight years, beginning in 1988, he held the position of regional director of sales and marketing for the Midwest, Southern California/Arizona and Asia/Pacific regions. He was named general manager of the Marriott Surfers Paradise Resort in 1996 and then area vice president for Australia, his most recent position.


Kelley earned a bachelor of science degree in business in 1977 from the University of Hawaii Travel Industry and Management School. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
Kelley is married and has two children. He and his family will reside in the Ft. Lauderdale area.
