Marriott Conference Centres Names New Director Of Sales And Marketing For Brand Strategy

The conference center division of Marriott Lodging, Marriott Conference Centers, has announced the appointment of Todd Sherstad as Director of Sales and Marketing, Brand Strategy. The announcement was made by Terry Harwood, Vice President and General Manager of the elite collection of conference facilities devoted to providing the ultimate meeting environment for groups.

Marriott Conference Centers is experiencing a rapid growth and we welcome Todd Sherstad`s proven marketing capabilities, said Harwood. His wealth of experience will be invaluable to our ongoing strategic operations and development efforts, as we continue to maximize the opportunity to expand the conference center division of Marriott Lodging.

A 20-year veteran of Marriott International, Sherstad worked previously as the Resident Manager of the St. Louis Marriott Pavilion. Prior to that, he held the position of Director of Marketing for six years at Marriott`s Tan-Tar-A Resort, Golf Club, and Spa at Osage Beach, MO located on Lake of the Ozarks. Sherstad began his Marriott career as a sales associate for the Minneapolis Airport Marriott. He was promoted to Director of Sales, then traveled to El Paso to open the Marriott Hotel there as a Director of Marketing, followed by Director of Marketing positions at the Albuquerque Marriott and St. Louis Marriott Pavilion. Prior to joining Marriott, Sherstad worked in food and beverage and golf course management. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. In 1990, he was named Director of Marketing of the Year for all of Marriott Hotels, Resorts, and Suites.

In his new responsibility, Sherstad will continue to position Marriott Conference Centers to meet the ever-changing needs and expectations of both meeting planners and attendees. Meeting attendees are looking for comfortable and secure meeting sites in a convenient location, said Sherstad. Marriott is expanding the conference centers product that can deliver consistently in terms of service and exceptional meeting environment. Our goal is to work with meeting planners in a partnership, to guarantee they meet their meeting objectives.

Sherstad will also be responsible for developing strategies to expand the brand and increase the number of Marriott Conference Centers through new development and acquisitions.


Sherstad and his wife and three children will reside in Germantown, MD.
