Jumeirah International received four awards and was highly commended for three additional awards during the first Hotel Intelligence Middle East & DEPA Arabtec “Achieving Industry Excellence Awards” ceremony organised by Hotel Intelligence Middle East magazine.

The awards, presented at a high-profile gala dinner hosted during “The Hotel Intelligence Middle East Conference” in Dubai, were based on an intensive entry questionnaire and judged by an international panel of industry professionals, specifically selected for their individual expertise and impartial view of the Middle East hotel industry. The exclusive Awards Ceremony is designed to reward the achievements of Middle East hotels within the regional and international marketplace. The judges were in attendance for the big night, including Toni Chi, the famous restaurant designer from New York; Janelle Barlow, international hotel consultant; Mark Norris, Managing Director of Profile Recruitment in London; Geoffrey Lipman from environmental group Green Globe; Stephen Head from École Hotéliére de Lausanne in Switzerland; Michael Heriott, Managing Director of Virgin Hotels; Joanne Evans, Director and organiser of the Hotel Show; and of course, the R&R Communications management team, including Hotel Intelligence Middle East Editor, Peter Longbottom.

The Jumeirah Beach Hotel won the award for ‘Best Resort Hotel in The Middle East’ and won the ‘Channel 4 FM Listeners Award for Best Hotel in the UAE’. In addition the hotel was highly commended in the category of ‘Best Hotel Conference Facilities’. Emirates Towers Hotel, celebrating its first anniversary later this month, was recognised as the ‘Best Business Hotel in the Middle East’, won the award for ‘Best Hotel Room Design’ and was highly commended by the Channel 4 FM listeners. The Jumeirah Beach Club was highly commended in the category of ‘Best Landscape Design’.

These latest accolades complement the growing list of travel and corporate awards presented to Jumeirah International properties. Earlier this year, The Jumeirah Beach Hotel was the recipient of the Dubai Quality Award, following on from an outstanding number of awards earned throughout 2000, including recognition from the World Travel Awards.
