Patrick Shimon has been named general manager of the Doubletree Hotel New Orleans.

Shimon most recently served as general manager of the Doubletree Hotel Lakeside in Metairie, La., a position held since 1998.

An 18-year hospitality veteran, Shimon`s career began in 1983 as an assistant controller at the Radisson in Raleigh, N.C. He joined the Doubletree brand in 1987 as controller at the Nashville, Tenn., property and then, in 1991, became director of rooms at the Doubletree Hotel Post Oak in Houston.

Shimon received a bachelor of arts degree in business from the University of Iowa.

Located on Canal Street across from the world-famous French Quarter, this 17-story property features 363 guest rooms, including 12 suites. Each guest room is equipped with voice-mail message service, computer dataports, irons, ironing boards and hairdryers. Remote control color TVs offer cable, in-room movies and video games. Guest amenities include Chicory Rotisserie & Grills, Sweet Dreams Cafe, Chicory Sports Lounge, a fitness center, an outdoor pool and a Conference Services center.
