Gary McGibony Joins Hilton Hotels Corp. As General Manager Of The Doubletree Lakeside

Gary McGiboney has been named the new general manager of the Doubletree Lakeside in Metairie, La., according to Andy Slater, area vice president-South Texas/Louisiana.
McGiboney most recently served as general manager of the Avalon Hotel and Conference center in New Orleans.


In his new position, McGiboney`s focus will be to position the Doubletree Lakeside as the premier corporate/meeting hotel in the suburban New Orleans market.


A longtime resident of New Orleans and a 25-year hotel industry veteran, McGiboney started his career as a sales manager at the Hotel Monteleone. He then worked as director of sales for the Royal Sonesta Hotel.


In 1989 after transferring to Boston as director of marketing with the Sonesta Corp., McGiboney relocated to Nashville to serve as director of marketing and regional corporate sales & marketing for the Davidson Hotel Corp.


In 1995, he transferred back to New Orleans with Davidson to serve as general manager of the company`s Ramada Plaza Hotel. McGiboney also managed casino hotels in Lake Charles, La., from 1998-2000.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., McGiboney attended Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala., and majored in business.
